How to make
Granizado is an iced drink made in Spain mainly during the summer months. It is found in every ice cream parlor (heladeria), pastry shop (pasteleria) or bar.
Granizado can also be prepared at home and is always the better option.
It is a type of liquid sorbet made from frozen fruit juice, which is crushed into small pieces of ice.
The taste of a Granizado may not necessarily be fruity, but can even be from coffee, milk meringue, horchata and even Coca-Cola and other flavors that are usually artificial in industrial conditions. At home we can prepare this icy pleasure with real fruit and at the same time it'll be both healthy and refreshing for us.
All you have to do is grate the yellow part of the peel of one lemon on a fine grater and squeeze the juice from all 3.
Add sugar (the best option is to use powdered sugar) and water. Stir and pour the mixture into a suitable for freezing container.
If you used crystal sugar, wait 15 minutes for it to melt well, while stirring occasionally.
Put it in the freezer for 3 hours and then grind it well into crystals - this can best be done in a blender or a suitable food processor, as well as by hand, for example with a fork, as the mixture has not hardened too much.
To make it easier for you, so that you don't wait for the three hours, stir the Granizado every 1 hour and that way it will not harden much and the ice cubes will be much easier to grind.
Serve it in cups with a straw and refresh your summer.
