  • flour - 1 cup (250 g)
  • butter - 1/2 cup (125 g)
  • sugar - 1 cup (250 g)
  • salt - 1 tsp (5 g)
  • milk - 3 1/3 tbsp (50 g)
  • eggs - 1
  • apples - 2 lb (1 kg)

How to make

Mix the flour with the butter, that you've cut into cubes, along with the salt and 2/3 cup (150 g) of the sugar. Form a well in the center of the dough, pour the milk and egg yolks in and mix everything, but without too much kneading. Let it cool.

Peel the apples and pour lemon juice over them. Cut out their insides and slice them into pieces. Prepare a caramel from 2/5 cup (100 g) of sugar and 1/3 cup (80 g) of butter. In the same round baking dish, arrange half the apples, pour the caramel in.

Allow it to harden, then arrange the rest of the apples. Spread the dough thinly over the apples. You can freeze the remainder of the dough to use another time. Bake in an oven at 360°F (180 °C).

Put the baked cake in a large bowl. Instead of apples, you can use other fruits. Fruit compote can also be used - pears, apricots, peaches.
