How to make
In the tray in which you intend to bake, pour 1 cup of sugar and butter and put it on the stove until it becomes a light caramel. Remove from the heat and arrange the beautifully sliced crescents of apples.
Optionally, you can use pears or other fruits drained from compote. Dissolve the jam in water with the baking soda and add the oil, sugar, cinnamon, flour and nuts.
Pour the blended mixture over the apples and place the cake to bake in a moderate oven until ready – it took about 45 minutes in my case.
Then invert the cake.
