How to make
Make 4 layers separately, two yellow and two brown.
Mix the ingredients listed for the first yellow layer. Bake the first cake layer on greased baking paper in a baking form in a preheated 390°F (200 °C) oven for about 20-30 minutes until it gains a nice color. Mix together next yellow layer and then both brown layers.
Boil the cream and let it cool. Then add the butter to make the cream shine. Cut each of the cooled layers into 3 circles using different sized plates.
Arrange a white circle with a smaller brown one on top, then another white and so on. For the second tier of the cake, reverse the order of the colored circles - first put a brown circle, then a white one, etc.
Put the cream in between the circles as you arrange them. Sprinkle the Chessboard cake with walnuts and chocolate sprinkles.
The picture shows a chessboard cake with 5 circles cut out from each layer. It all depends on the size of the layers but the goal is to get circles of the same size when cutting them.
Enjoy the cake!
