"The tastiest Wine Cookies are made with lard, just like grandma used to make."

Ingredients

  • lard - 1 cup, melted
  • white wine - 4/5 cup (200 ml)
  • sugar - 2 tablespoons
  • vanilla - 1
  • orange rinds - of 1 orange
  • flour - 3 cups
  • baking powder - 1 pinch
  • marmalade - 1/2 cup
  • powdered sugar - 1/2 cup, for sprinkling

How to make

Mix all the products (excluding the marmalade) and knead a soft dough. Divide it into 2 parts.

Roll out each into a rectangle, then cut each into 3″ (7 cm) squares.

Put a little marmalade on top, press on both sides and roll into a cigar-like shape. Arrange in a tray that you've slightly oiled.

Bake in a preheated 370°F (190 °C) oven about 20 min. until light pink. While still warm, sprinkle with powdered sugar. They're really tasty!
