Sauces are in inseparable part of the culinary arsenal of any chef. No matter if they're warm or cold, sweet, salty or spicy, they are used to make all sorts of dishes.
Especially popular, however, are sweet sauces, since they are poured not only over cakes and ice cream but many other more exotic dishes. Here are the 5 tastiest sweet sauces and how to prepare them:
Sweet Onion Sauce
Ingredients: 1 finely chopped onion head, 2 cups water, 1 pinch salt and 1 pinch white pepper, 3 tbsp sugar, 1 tbsp honey, 1 tbsp vinegar, 1 tbsp flour.
Preparation: Put the onion to boil in the water along with all of the spices, excluding the flour. Once it starts to soften and is nearly ready, and some of the water has boiled off, add the flour (diluted in a little water) to thicken the sauce.
Classic Chocolate Sauce
Ingredients: 1/5 cup cocoa, 1 1/5 cups cream, 4 egg yolks, 4/5 cup powdered sugar.
Preparation: Put half of the cream in a suitable container to heat on low heat and add the cocoa to it. Stir everything well and add the rest of the cream. Finally, add the sugar and egg yolks. Leave the sauce to boil for a few min. If it turns out too thick you can add a little milk.
Blueberry Sauce
Ingredients: 2/5 cup blueberry jam, 1 2/5 cups quality red wine, 3 tbsp sugar.
Preparation: Bring the wine to a boil in a deep container and add the rest of the products to it. Boil until the sauce thickens. If you intend to use the sauce to flavor meat and not anything sweet, you can add spices such as black pepper, allspice and others to it.
Strawberry Sauce
Ingredients: 1 cup strawberries, 1 cup powdered sugar, 1 vanilla.
Preparation: Pour the sugar over the strawberries and leave for 1 day. Then, bring them to a boil, add the vanilla and stir everything to obtain a thick sauce.
Raspberry Sauce
Ingredients: 2 cups raspberries, 2 cups water, 3 1/3 tbsp sugar, a pinch of cinnamon.
Preparation: Put the water on the stove and once it comes to a boil, add the raspberries, sugar and cinnamon to it. Keep boiling until the water starts to evaporate and the sauce thickens.
