Lentils are a preferred product that is cooked relatively quickly and is distinguished by its taste. But their preparation should not be underestimated, as well as the preparation itself.
There are so many varieties of recipes - lentil soups, lentil stews, lentil salads and there are recipes, in which lentils are not the main character, but are simply used as a side dish. Nevertheless, lentils must undergo preliminary preparation.
This means washing it and pre-soaking it in water. Many people believe that soaking before the preparation can be skipped, but the benefits of this process are many. For example, you will easily remove the waste or any product that is no good, if there's any, or it will just cook faster.
You can use patience or a do-it-yourself device to wash the lentils. For this you usually need a bottle on which you have pierced the cap. With a funnel pour the lentils in it and fill it with water.
There are two options - to first put on, a non-pierced cap and shake it firmly, and then to replace the cap with the pierced one and use it to pour the water out through it. The other option is to use only the cap with the holes, but you need to only gently shake. Repeat this several times.
Another option that is most common is to wash the lentils in a colander and let them drain.
After washing the lentils, soak them for a few hours. An hour or two is enough, but if you soak them for too long, sprouts may appear.
After washing and soaking the lentils, they will cook faster and you will be sure that there are no unwanted compounds such as phytic acid or poor quality waste, which are also found in modern goods.
