Stewing is a process in which a product is fried in a little fat and at the same time boiled in a small amount of liquid, to which various spices or sauces can be added.

At the same time, the kitchen utensil in which it is cooked must be covered with a lid. The products that are processed in this way become soft and juicy and tastier. There are 3 types of ways to stew food:

- stewing in its own sauce - when stewing leafy vegetables, zucchini, spinach or more precisely products with high water content;

- stewing in a small amount of liquid. It is applied only in closed containers, as part of the product is boiling and the top is cooked in the steam;

- stewing after pre-frying. Refers to semi-cooked meat.

In order to stew onions, it is necessary to cut them into slices or crescents. Add some fat into a deep frying pan and after it heats up, the onions are placed in it.

Add a small amount of water or broth and cover the pan with a lid. Leave the onions to cook for about 10-15 minutes. Finally, season them with the desired amount of salt.
