What Do Gummy Bears Contain?

There are hardly any children and even adults, who do not like gummy bear candies. However, have you thought about what you give your children and what you sometimes eat? Have you ever wondered what is in these candies and how they are made?

This type of candy was invented in 1922 by the German candy maker Hans Riegel. The first name given to these candies was "sugar dancing bears". The name was inspired by real bears dancing at fairs and festivals.

One of the largest gummy bears you can buy weighs 12 kilograms and contains 32,000 calories. To make them look so shiny, carnauba wax is applied to them, which, in addition to adding shine, prevents them from sticking.

This wax is also used in products such as car oil, shoe polish and dental floss. One of the ingredients of gummy bears is gelatin. It is obtained from the bones or cartilage of animals, which have been cooked for a very long time.

In the store chains, everything looks shiny and attractive, but still be careful what you give your children and what you eat, although gummy candies are good for the teeth, or at least they do not harm them much.

100 grams of gummy bears contain: 337 calories, 6.2 grams of protein and 78 grams of carbohydrates. These candies do not contain sugar, but they do contain ingredients that, if taken in large amounts, can cause an upset stomach. There is no sugar in them, so licasin syrup is added instead.

This syrup consists of maltitol - a sugar alcohol, which does not damage the teeth, but the stomach absorbs and processes it more slowly and this can lead to bloating. And after all that has been said, I would advise you to be careful what you give your children and what you consume.
