Ingredients

  • flour - 2 lb (1 kg)
  • eggs - 2 + 1 yolk
  • oil - 1 cup
  • yoghurt - 1 cup
  • lemonade - 1 cup
  • yeast - 1 1/3 tbsp (20 g) fresh
  • water - 2/5 cup (100 ml) warm
  • butter - for smearing the tray
  • milk - 2 tbsp
  • salt - 1 tbsp
  • sesame seeds

How to make

To make the yeast rise, dissolve it in the warm water, add 4-5 tbsp flour and 1 tsp sugar. Stir all this well and leave it to rise.

Mix all the liquid ingredients together - eggs, oil, yoghurt, lemonade. Mix everything very well.

Add the flour and salt to the liquid ingredients.

Leave the dough in an oiled container to rise until doubled in volume.

Knead the dough again and start forming scones from it, smearing them with a little butter.

Arrange all the scones next to each other in a buttered tray and leave to rise again.

Once the loaf rises, smear it with beaten together egg yolk and milk, sprinkle on sesame seeds.

Place it in the oven with the fan off and bake at 340°F (170 °C) the entire time until ready.

Check with a wooden skewer periodically to see if it's ready.

Bake until reddened.
