"Guess why small mackerel is so sought after. Well because it`s really tasty when oven-baked and real easy to prepare."

Ingredients

  • mackerel - 5 - 6 small fish
  • olive oil - 3 1/3 tbsp (50 g)
  • lemons - 1
  • tomatoes - 3 - 4 (can use canned)
  • onions - 1 large head
  • white wine - 2/5 cup (100 ml)
  • bay leaf
  • black pepper - grains
  • allspice
  • all purpose spice - for fish
  • salt

How to make

In a tray, subsequently arrange the following: onions, tomatoes and round lemon slices. Sprinkle with black pepper, allspice, a little salt and 2-3 bay leaves.

Clean, salt and season the fish with the all purpose spice. Leave it in the fridge for 30 min.

Arrange it in the tray atop the other ingredients, pour in the wine, olive oil and a little water. Cover with foil and bake at 360°F (180 °C) for 40 min.

Remove the foil and finish baking for another 10 min.
