"Light, easy and tasty. That`s the only way I`d describe this old-school meatless clay pot dish."

Ingredients

  • cabbages - 1 head
  • carrots - 2
  • onions - 1 head
  • garlic - 3 - 4 cloves
  • tomato salsa - 1 tbsp
  • paprika - 1 tsp
  • tomatoes - 5.5 oz (150 g), fresh or canned
  • salt - 1 tbsp
  • black pepper - to taste
  • citric acid - 1 tsp
  • oil - 2/5 cup (100 ml)
  • bay leaf - 1
  • allspice - 3 - 4 grains

How to make

Cut the cabbage into thin strips, salt and mash it by hand.

Braise the onions, garlic and diced carrots in a deep pot, add the salted and mashed cabbage and stir about 10 min. until softened.

Add the paprika, the tomato salsa diluted in a little water, the bay leaf, allspice and citric acid.

Season with salt and pepper and transfer to a clay pot. Pour the finely chopped tomatoes on top.

Place it in a cold oven and bake at 390°F (200 °C) for 40 min.
