"Why oh why do some recipes bring me back to the tastiest carefree days of my childhood?"

Ingredients

  • dough
  • butter - 2/3 cup (150 g)
  • eggs - 1 yolk
  • water - 2 tbsp
  • sugar - 3 tbsp
  • flour - 4/5 cup (200 g)
  • filling
  • walnuts - 2/3 cup (160 g) ground
  • sugar - 1/3 cup (75 g)
  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • milk - 2/5 cup (100 ml)
  • powdered sugar - for rolling
measures

How to make

The butter needs to be at room temperature. Beat it with a mixer until you obtain a fluffy cream. Then add the sugar to it. Beat with the mixer again.

Add the water and egg yolk. Beat well. Sift the flour and add it gradually to the mixture. Knead a soft dough. Leave it in the fridge for 2 hours. Then prepare the filling.

Put the ground walnuts, sugar, milk and cinnamon in a container on the stove. Stir nonstop until the mixture thickens. Then remove from the stove.

Roll out the prepared dough into a sheet 1/4 thick. Cut it into identical squares. Put filling at one end of the squares and roll them up into cigars.

Arrange them in an oven dish laid out with baking paper. Bake them in a moderate oven. The cigars are ready once slightly reddened. While still warm, roll them in powdered sugar.
