"Homemade sweet rolls rarely look like those you see in the store but they are 100 times tastier. We know this from experience."

Ingredients

  • eggs - 4 + 1 egg white
  • sugar - 4/5 cup (200 g)
  • salt - 1 pinch
  • starch - 1/3 cup (80 g)
  • flour - 2 tbsp
  • cocoa - 2 tbsp
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • almonds - 2/5 cup (100 g), ground, or use walnuts
  • whipped cream - 1 cup (250 ml)
  • powdered sugar - for sprinkling
  • liqueur - for spreading, can use rum
  • vanilla - 1 packet

How to make

Beat the eggs well with the egg white, sugar and pinch of salt. Combine the starch, flour, cocoa and baking powder and sift them, then gradually add them to the egg mixture.

Stir well and pour the mixture into a rectangular oven dish with oiled baking paper. Sprinkle with the almonds or walnuts and put it to bake in a preheated 440°F (225 °C) oven for about 10 min.

Invert the ready layer onto a moist towel. Remove the baking paper carefully and sprinkle with a liqueur of your choice or rum. Roll it up and leave it to cool completely.

Then unroll it, smear it with the whipped cream that's been beaten with the vanilla and roll it up again. Sprinkle the chocolate roll with cream and powdered sugar.
