"We forgot to write down how much beer we drank with this crunchy sprat in the recipe!"

Ingredients

  • sprat - 17.5 oz (500 g)
  • beer - 2/3 cup (150 ml)
  • salt - 3 pinches
  • flour - 2/3 cup (150 g)
  • black pepper - 1/4 tsp ground
  • eggs - 2
  • oil - 4/5 cup (200 ml)
  • lemons - 2

How to make

Wash the sprat well, then remove the innards and wash them again. Sprinkle them with salt.

Prepare a batter of flour, black pepper, the remaining salt, beer and beaten eggs. Each fish is dipped in the crumbing, left to drain and then placed in a heated pan with oil.

Fry until golden. Serve the crumbed sprat hot, with lemon slices.
