Ingredients

  • lentils - 1 cup, dry
  • rice - 1 cup, boiled (1/2 cup, raw)
  • mushrooms - 7 oz (200 g)
  • onions - 1/2 small
  • oats - 2/3 cup
  • breadcrumbs - 1.4 oz (40 g)
  • parsley - 1/2 bunch
  • soy sauce - 2 tbsp.
  • smoked paprika - 1/2 tsp.
  • cumin - 1/4 tsp.
  • salt - 1 tsp.
  • garlic powder - 1/2 tsp.
  • basil - 1 tsp.
  • oil
  • barbecue sauce - 1 cup

How to make

The lentils are soaked and boiled, then strained.

Fry the chopped onions and mushrooms, cut into pieces, in hot oil. When they are ready, they are removed from the heat.

The oats are soaked for a few minutes in 1/3 cup of water.

In a chopper, mix half of the boiled lentils, half of the rice and the mushrooms with the onion. Grind to a relatively homogeneous and sticky mixture. It is then separated into a bowl.

The same is done with the remaining lentils, rice, oats and parsley. Add this mixture to the bowl.

In the bowl, add the salt, garlic powder, basil, breadcrumbs, smoked paprika, cumin, soy sauce and 5-6 tbsp. barbecue sauce. Stir until everything is well combined.

From the finished mixture, make the lentil patties - about 20 pieces.

When they are ready, they are fried in parts in hot oil, by turning on each side.

When the patties are done, add half of the barbecue sauce to them in the pan and cook for another 2 minutes, by covering them on all sides.

Then they are removed from the heat and left for 2-3 minutes to cool before serving with a side dish or as an appetizer.

To bake in the oven, the ready-made vegetable patties are spread with a little oil and then barbecue sauce.

Bake in an oven heated to 360°F (180°C) for 20 minutes, and after 10 minutes turn over and bake for another 10 minutes on the other side. They can be spread with a little more barbecue sauce when flipped.
