"This time, the toasts will really be for health, especially if you have an aromatic homemade Acacia Liqueur on hand"

Ingredients

  • white acacia - 10.5 oz (300 g) of fresh flowers
  • vodka - 4 cups (1 liter)
  • distilled water - 2 cups (500 ml)
  • brown sugar - 1.1 lb (500 g)
measures

How to make

Since ancient times the acacia has been considered a sacred tree and a symbol of purity.

Acacia flowers have a pleasant aroma. They contain essential oils and have many healing properties.

In addition to tea or acacia syrup, the herb can also be turned into a homemade drink.

For the preparation of liqueur never use brandy. It has a typical fruity aroma, a rich taste and is not suitable for mixing with other aromas.

These fruit drinks are aperitif spirits, with added sugar, the alcohol content of which is between 20-35 vol.%.

We clean the flowers from the flower part and remove the stalks. Place them in a colander and pour cold water over them. Transfer them to a large bowl and sprinkle with 1/2 of the sugar.

Cover the dish with cling film and refrigerate overnight.

We pour the candied flowers into a large glass jar along with the separated aromatic flower syrup. Add the alcohol, trying to cover the flowers completely so they don't darken.

If some of them float, do not worry, their darkening does not change the taste of the liqueur.

We put the container in a dark and cool place. It stays there for 30-40 days. From time to time we shake the jar with the flowers.

After the mentioned time has passed, strain the liquid through cheesecloth.

Heat the distilled water with the remaining sugar until it dissolves. Add it to the alcoholic herbal extract and mix.

Acacia liqueur (Robinia pseudoacacia) is ready and you can enjoy it.

The herbal plant has many medicinal effects. Flowers cure persistent cough of various origins.

Acacia protects against diseases of the respiratory tract and the digestive system. It is used for increased acidity in the stomach, gastritis, acid and other belching, gastric hemorrhages.

Advice: Do not keep alcohol extract in the sun. When the weather is hot, fermentation is induced.
