Ingredients

  • semolina - 1 1/2 cups
  • oil - 1/2 cup
  • sugar - 2 cups
  • water - 5 cups
  • cinnamon - 1/2 tsp.
  • walnuts (for sprinkling)

How to make

Caramelize 1 cup of sugar. Add the remaining sugar and pour the boiling water over the caramel. Stir occasionally to melt it. When the caramel melts, remove the syrup from the heat.

In another saucepan, put the fat to heat, then add the semolina. Stir, until the semolina aquires a golden color.

Then add the caramel syrup and while stirring at all times, boil over moderate heat, until it has thickened.

Before removing the saucepan from the heat, add the cinnamon.

Stir and pour it into a suitable tray.

Sprinkle the halva with coarsely chopped walnuts and leave it to cool and harden.

The semolina halva with caramel is ready.
