How to make

Prepare the sugar syrup first, as it needs to cool down to pour it over the finished pastries. Boil the water, sugar and vanilla in a pot on the stove.

Lower the heat and leave the syrup to boil over low heat for about 10 minutes. Add 1-2 teaspoons of lemon juice. Leave the syrup to cool.

In a bowl, mix all of the ingredients and knead a soft dough. Do not add too much flour, so that the pastries do not become hard after baking.

Divide the dough into two parts and roll them a thin sheets. Cut them into strips and roll each strip into a spiral.

Arrange the finished spirals on a tray lined with baking paper and bake them in an oven heated to 340°F (170°C), until they aquire a golden brown color.

Pour the cold sugar syrup over the hot pastries.

Leave the syrupy sweets for a few hours.

The Çatal Tatlısı are ready.
