Ingredients

  • pineapple - 10.5 oz (300 g), fresh, well ripened or canned
  • bananas - 2 pcs (about 250 g)
  • coconut milk - 10 fl oz (300 ml) (or coconut cream)
  • coconut shavings - and chips for decoration
  • powdered sugar - about 0.7 oz (20 g)
  • pineapple juice - 1 - 2 cups.
  • coconut syrup - 1 cup
  • crushed ice - 5 oz (150 g)

Pina Colada is a Puerto Rican drink, made with pineapple and coconut. It may be slightly alcoholic, but in this recipe we will present its non-alcoholic version, which is why it's called Virgin.

In addition to the obligatory pineapple, another fruit is added to it, most often a banana or mango.

The name of the drink comes from piña - pineapple.

In order to prepare a homemade Pina Colada, you need to have a device, with which you can blend the fruit and preferably the ice.

A blender or a suitable food processor is best, but with a liquidizer it can also be achieved and then it can be strained in case it is not blended into a perfectly fine consistency.

All of the products listed in the recipe, except those for decoration, of course, are placed in the appliance and are blended at maximum speed. The ice can be broken in advance, in order to not to make it unnecessarily difficult for the appliance, if it is not very powerful. If you use a blender, the ice is added at the end.

It took me 30 seconds to blend everything.

Suitable cups are decorated on the edges with coconut shavings. I also made a skewer with canned pineapple pieces.

Pour the Virgin Pina Colada and serve it with a straw and a cocktail spoon and if desired, decorate it with pieces of pineapple, coconut chips or banana.

* Before you pour it, it can be further sweetened according to your taste.
