Hemorrhoids – an inflammatory disease of the large intestine, accompanied by thrombosis, pathological torsion and expansion of hemorrhoidal veins that form nodes in the rectum.

Causes of hemorrhoids are chronic constipation - increased blood flow and pressure in the rectum, pregnancy and childbirth, sedentary lifestyle, alcohol abuse, increased physical activity, spicy food that irritates the anal canal, obesity, genetic predisposition, stressful situations, inflammation of the liver and intestines, infectious processes, tumor.

Symptoms of hemorrhoids are rectal bleeding, especially after a bowel movement, blood in the stool, prolapse and thickening of hemorrhoids, itching and irritation in the anus, pain when walking, defecation, sitting, heaviness, foreign body in the rectum.

It is very important to maintain hemorrhoidal diet to prevent the occurrence of chronic constipation, to restore iron deficiency in hemorrhoidal bleeding. The products should have an increased content of vitamins, amino acids, fiber, mineral salts. The diet should be coordinated with the characteristics of the patient's body.

Useful products for hemorrhoids

- Products with soft dietary fiber, for example dried fruit;

- In limited amounts - meat (e.g. chicken, rabbit, veal, turkey), fish products (crucian carp, perch, carp, cod, hake, pike) with high iron values;

- Fruits (bananas, apples, grapes) and compotes made from them;

- Buckwheat, barley, oats, barley porridge;

- Honey;

- Cooked and raw vegetables (cauliflower, carrots, onions, garlic, beets, tomatoes, zucchini, lettuce, pumpkin);

- Nuts and berries;

- Mineral water with a high content of sulfates and magnesium;

- Natural juices (carrot, beets, apricot);

- Fermented dairy products (cottage cheese, cream, day-old kefir, dairy products with bifid and lactobacilli;

Sample diet for hemorrhoids

Breakfast: fresh juice, cereal (soaked overnight, whole grain barley, oats or wheat, whole flaxseeds, chopped nuts, dried fruit).

Breakfast: a glass of kefir (ayran).
