How to make
In 2/5 cup (100 ml) of the warm milk, stir the sugar, yeast and 2 tbsp flour, leave it to activate, then add it to the sifted flour with the egg mixture.
Knead a soft dough, leave it to rise about 40 min. Divide it into 1 large part - 23 oz (650 g), 2 medium-sized parts - 19.5 oz (550 g) and a small part. Further divide the large dough part into 3, roll out each into 3 round sheets, smear them with butter (except the last one) and arrange on top of each other.
Cut it into 8 triangles but not all the way through so that they remain connected. Turn each triangle so that its vertex is facing away from the center. Roll out 1 middle part of the dough into 3 round sheets, smear them with butter, arrange on top of each other, cut into 8 separate triangles.
Put them in the inner part of the round loaf. Divide the other middle part into 2, shape 1 into a ball for the center and the other into 2 wicks - weave them together or simply twist. Arrange the weaves along the edges of the ball in the middle.
Leave the loaf to rise and in the meantime use the small part of dough to cut out flowers and letters for decoration. Once the loaf has risen, smear it with the yolk beaten with a little milk. Arrange the cut out letters (Merry Christmas) and flower shapes of your choice on top.
Sprinkle with sesame seeds and bake in a preheated oven to a nice, golden crisp for about 40 min.
