"For every holiday, for every celebration - raise a toast with the Twelve Bells Cocktail"

Ingredients

  • hazelnut liqueur - 1 1/3 tbsp (20 ml)
  • brandy - 1 tbsp (15 ml)
  • champagne - 1/2 cup (120 ml) or other sparkling wine - cava, prosecco
  • sugar - 1 tbsp.
  • raspberries - or other fruit of your choice for decoration (in the original version - grapes)
measures

How to make

Dip the edges of the glass in sparkling wine and then in the sugar.

If you wish, you can use chilled glasses that have been in the freezer, but I know from experience that when you pour something sparkling into them, it is easily de-carbonated, or at least the bubbles are reduced by half.

At the bottom of the glass pour the hazelnut liqueur first, then the brandy and top it up with champagne.

Garnish it with fruit and serve it immediately.

The name of this cocktail comes from New Year's Eve in Spain, where before the New Year all the clocks noisily count down the last 12 seconds of the old year and this is accompanied by a bell ringing.

After each ringing of the bell, one grape is eaten and a wish is made. Once the new year arrives, toasts begin and this cocktail is a major participant in many of them. Hence its name.

Of course we can say drink it on any occasion and whenever we like.

The Twelve Bells Cocktail is ready.
