Scale

For a woman, the weight is extremely important - she wants to know she is within the norm - if the weight is normal for her height or if she has gained more than necessary. To calculate it, several different approaches are known – Brock's index, Body mass index, Borngard's index, Breitman's index.

To calculate your weight and find out if you are overweight according to the Brock index, you need to know your height in centimeters. In case you are between 155 and 165 cm tall, you should subtract 100 from your height.

However, if your height is between 166 cm and 175 cm, you subtract 105, and if your height is over 175, you subtract 110. Subtract from your height the number that applies to your height - for example, 165 - 100 = 65 kg. To not be considered overweight, you must weigh no more than 65 kilograms.

For the Borngard index, you need in addition to your height in centimeters and your chest circumference. You multiply the height by the circumference, then divide the result by 240. Again, we use a lady with a height of 165 cm and a chest circumference of 85 cm.

Sport

This is what we get: 165x85/240=58.44. In that case, it should be your weight, and anything over these kilos is overweight.

For the Breitman index, we multiply a person's height in centimeters by 0.7. Then we subtract 50 from the resulting number and get the results. Again, the lady is 165 cm tall – 165 x 0.7 = 115.5 – 50 = 65.5 kg. In other words, kilograms below these are considered absolutely normal according to the Breitman index.

It remains to be seen how the body mass index (BMI) calculates whether we are normal or overweight. Here you need to know your weight, height. Kilograms divided by height squared or 60 kg/ (1.65 x 1.65)= 22.03.

This is your body mass index, and to see if you are in the norm, you need to know that normal weight is considered an index between 18.5 and 24.9. Overweight is with an index between 25 and 29.9, and then obesity I, II and III degrees begin.

Accordingly, with values of degree I - between 30 and 34.9, for degree II - 35 and 39.9 and an index above 40, obesity is considered degree III.
