Ingredients

  • flour - 2 1/2 cups
  • eggs - 3
  • milk - 1 cup
  • cocoa - 3 tbsp
  • sugar - 1 cup
  • oil - 1 cup
  • baking powder - 1 packet
  • vanilla sugar - 1 packet
  • for the chocolate syrup
  • milk - 1 cup
  • sugar - 1 cup
  • oil - 1 cup
  • cocoa - 2 tbsp
  • coconut flakes - for sprinkling

How to make

Beat the eggs with the sugar (it's best if the eggs are at room temperature). Add the milk and oil.

Add the sifted flour, baking powder and cocoa in small portions. Stir nonstop until you get a homogeneous mixture. Add the vanilla sugar. Bake the cake layer in a suitable oven dish, laid out with baking paper. Bake at about 360°F (180 °C).

Make the syrup by melting the sugar in the milk and putting the mixture to come to a boil. Add the oil and sifted cocoa.

Pour this chocolate syrup over the cooled layer. Leave the cake to cool for a few hours and absorb the liquid.

Sprinkle with coconut flakes.
