Blueberries are one of those gifts of summer that we wish we could keep longer. These extremely tasty small fruit are very popular in America, where they originate. They are among the fruit that boast the highest antioxidant content.
As a rule, blueberries are mostly found in the high mountains - at a mountain height of over 1000 meters, blueberries are picked and at an altitude of 1700 m above sea level, aromatic blackberries are picked.
Fragrant and ecologically clean blueberries can be picked in coniferous and broad-leaved forests and pastures, where you can find both blackberries and blueberries.
The question is what to do when we fill up a whole basket of blueberries. Besides the obvious answer of turning them into a delicious Blueberry Cheesecake, Blueberry Muffins, or Blueberry Jam, we can dry them.
Drying blueberries can be done naturally on newspaper or gauze or in the oven. For natural drying, the fruit are arranged on a newspaper and left in a dry and airy place and must be taken inside in the evening.
You can dry blueberries in the oven by gradually raising the temperature to 50-60°C and stirring constantly. The fruit are ready when they do not stain when you rub them between your fingers. You should then store them in airtight jars.
