How to make
Start by preparing the cauliflower. Remove the outer leaves and trim the stem slightly, keeping the core intact so the slices hold together. Carefully cut the cauliflower into thick slices to form “steaks.” Depending on the size, you will get about 3-4 solid pieces.
Line a baking tray with parchment paper and arrange the cauliflower steaks on it.
Season the steaks with salt, then spread each one generously with roasted red pepper spread (ajvar-style), about 1-2 tablespoons per piece. Drizzle lightly with oil over the top.
Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and bake the cauliflower steaks until they become tender and lightly golden.
Remove the tray from the oven and place thin slices or grated yellow cheese on top of each steak, adjusting the amount to your taste.
Return the tray to the oven and bake for a few more minutes until the cheese melts and slightly browns.
Once ready, sprinkle the cauliflower steaks with black pepper and savory herb for extra aroma and flavor.
Serve warm, optionally with spicy peppers or your favorite garnish.
